#47 Dual School: Empowering Students & Educators To Innovate

With the recent rise to youth empowerment and youth-led organizations, Dual School has emerged as a leading program in the Delaware community to help teens find their passions and create innovative solutions to problems that can create lasting impacts on the world. Originally funded by Paul McConnell, a Wilmington real estate entrepreneur, and Catherine Lindroth, a graduate from Yale University and a social-impact entrepreneur, it is now led by Zack Jones, a graduate from the Horn Entrepreneurship Program at the University of Delaware. According to Zack, the program was created because the current “education system doesn’t provide enough time, space, and support for young people to launch impact projects of their own design. We know that young people are capable of building a better world if you just give them the opportunity.” By allowing youth to work on projects that they are passionate about,  “it allows them to see themselves differently and immediately leads to more confidence, more belief, and more hope.” It is Dual School’s motto that “you don’t have to wait, just do it and own it.” Through this program, youth around the Delaware area have been able to create financial literacy programs, video games that target mental health, programs that encourage women in STEM, and many more depending on their interests. Currently Zack encourages aspiring changemakers to “start creating something and get in the habit of creation and get in the habit of talking about your creation.” If you are located in the Northern Delaware region, apply to the Dual School’s program today!
